You can take this banshee and fly straight to the island where the road starts, all the triggers will work properly, and you can get in the tank and drive straight into the house. You can then run to a gap in the soft barrier between islands to get to the island where FOB Hotel is, which happens to house a banshee nearby. Normally it'll kill you if you get hit, but if you save and quit then ground pound into it, quickly open the menu during the ground pound animation, then fast travel to a FOB (FOB golf is probably closest), you'll be invincible with all kill barriers unlocked.
You have to play up until you get to the start of the excavation site mission where the laser pops up, being sure to collect enough Spartan Cores to unlock the ground pound ability (in the grapple hook tree). I completed it on Heroic without him.Īlso remember that you need to get the tank all the way to the end and actually use it to cross the final bridge you extend, pulling into the little garage area at the base of the structure.
This is just a bonus though and not necessary. with him surviving, he'll be able to use the machine gun on the tank, making it a little easier. I freed mine as soon as i saw him, before taking out any enemies, and he was dead by the end of the encounter.

clear all of the enemies first and then free him - this helps keep him alive. There is also a soldier being held prisoner in the area that you pick up the tank. try to take everything/every one out as soon as you see it from as far away as possible before advancing to limit damage. the biggest obstacle was probably the dual phantoms that fly in towards the end, but they are taken out pretty easily with just 2 shots each. This method was more preferable for me than the "on foot" method, as being on foot can be more difficult and take longer than just yeeting missiles all over the place. There were at least 3 checkpoints along the route and I was able to complete it even after blowing up ~3 times. if you ride in the tank and just let yourself die if/when it explodes, you will be tossed back to a checkpoint, still in the tank, and you will still pop the achievement upon reaching "The House." just did this last night on Heroic.
You do not need to complete this in one fell swoop, nor do you need to complete it on foot and go back for the tank. it can also be more tedious to take on the enemies presented on foot vs with a tank, in my opinion. I wanted to put this out there as I had this question, and the guides posted, while great, are more of a cheese.
